Opi russian collection12/29/2023 ![]() It’s a polish I’m sure I’m going to get a lot of use from, but I think in terms of a true navy shade, it doesn’t outbeat my favourite from Barry M (which I’ve never reviewed!), but I love that purple fleck that features in this. I like OPI Russian Navy a lot – but I don’t think it’s my favourite Navy, I wish this was just a shade lighter, upclose as above this polish is stunning, from a distance It’s just that smidge too dark, and has me feeling reminiscent of being a teenager and applying my eyeshadow nicely and then adding way too much black in the crease – close up it would look fine, but from a distance it looked too dark. It dries relatively quickly, but like all OPI’s it’s nothing staggeringly impressive a normal 1-2 minutes before a topcoat can be applied. The formula of this polish is absolutely dreamy to apply, it’s a one coat wonder and applies completely opaque, I often find myself still doing a second – just out of habit, but if you’re the kind of person who is always doing your nails in a rush then this is a great option to have to hand to save you a coat or two of drying time. Ink has much more of a sparkly appearance compared to Russian Navy, whilst up close shots and close inspection reveal that Russian Navy isn’t a totally flat Navy shade, from a distance it looks very dark, almost edging towards passing as a black. Whilst they are similar they are definitely not the same. I was interested how they would compare in person. From looking at pictures Russian Navy has always reminded me of Ink, It’s not a pure navy, instead harbouring a deep purple sparkle that stops it from looking really flat. OPI Ink I fondly name as my all time favourite polish as my collection has grown over the past 2 or 3 years it doesn’t get as much use, whilst I still love it I don’t reach for it nearly as often. Navy polishes are always ones which I opt for at this time of year, I love layering them with some holographic silver glitter on the ends that looks like snow falling. Fumy shrimp truck12/29/2023 ![]() Keeping the shell on the shrimp enhances the sauce and helps with the meat texture, creating a more delicate flavour. Slivered ginger, tossed with garlic and butter, drenched a dozen or so pieces of shrimp beautifully.īoth dishes were fabulously messy, as you have to peel the shells off of the sauce covered shrimp as you go. ![]() Perhaps not the most typical choice, but seeing as half the kitchen staff were Chinese, and one of them recommended that flavour based on Cantonese cooking, I couldn’t help myself. The spicy garlic wasn’t very spicy however, the chunks of chopped garlic, combined with the warm shrimp and the fluffy white rice made this dish very tender. I tasted the spicy garlic, the ginger shrimp, and the cold, boiled shrimp – all the better to be able to measure the sweetness of the shrimp in their truest form. The shrimp options at Fumi’s are: original, butter garlic, lemon pepper, hot & spicy, coconut, tempura, spicy garlic, salt & pepper, ginger, and boiled shrimp with tartare sauce. Other places serve macaroni salad to complement the shrimp, but at Fumi’s, the white rice is perfect for soaking up the sauce from the shrimp. Served on Styrofoam containers for take-away orders, they all include two scoops of white rice, a green salad, and a few pieces of fresh pineapple. There are eight different flavour combinations for the way you want your shrimp cooked. The menu at Fumi’s, like most shrimp stops in Oahu, is pretty simple. There’s also a separate window that sells corn on the cob and shaved ice, in true Hawaiian style. This canteen has a shrimp farm in the back, where it literally produces most of the food it serves. These locations are ideal for simple, flavoursome lunches when road tripping in Oahu.Īs part of a guided tour, our designated stop was Fumi’s Shrimp Stop. As the shrimp trucks grew in popularity, among locals and tourists alike, several shrimp shacks began to establish themselves along the highway. Oahu’s North Shore is famous for its food trucks, especially the shrimp trucks. ![]() The first place was in the North Shore of Oahu, in Kahuku to be precise. Two particular outings left a mark on me. While there is a lot of shrimp truck competition, Fumi’s holds their own.On a recent trip to Hawaii, where there’s no shortage of good food, and where there is tons of fusion, I had the opportunity to be introduced to some delightful grindz (the Hawaiian word for food). The salad and pineapple, while almost an afterthought, do add a nice dimension to making this a meal instead of just a “rice and shrimp” snack.Īll in all, Fumi’s does exactly what they set out to do: provide quality shrimp at a reasonable price, and doing so with the utmost in shrimp quality. The spiced garlic butter sauce is a perfect complement for both the shrimp and the rice. The shrimp itself is cooked perfectly, without overcooking or mushiness, for the perfect shrimp texture. The real key here is the shrimp: your order contains a half dozen really large, nicely cleaned and de-veined, but still shell-on shrimp, but the shells are so light and nicely cooked that you can eat them as well. We settled on their most popular item: the hot and spicy garlic shrimp, served up in a rich buttery cayenne and garlic sauce with two big scoops of rice (at times in Hawaii, it’s hard to avoid rice, it’s everywhere), some pineapple wedges, and a small green salad. There’s not a lot of menu options at Fumi’s: it’s basically all shrimp. But in any case, all of these joints involve shrimp, generally served up in a butter sauce (with optional garlic and hot pepper) alongside some rice. Fumi’s and Romy’s apparently do, at least most of the time, while some of the others (Giovanni’s, in particular) source theirs from salt-water sources, using frozen shrimp. Interestingly, however, the area stands don’t all sort from here. However, it’s obvious why Fumi’s (and their competitor Romy’s, at a near-identical stand a quarter mile down the road) are located here: this stretch of Kahuku consists primarily of shrimp farming, with pond after pond of shrimp ponds in which shrimp are farm raised, and the shrimp stands provide a nice local outlet for the product. We ended up visiting the latter, due to shorter lines and more available seating. The other is a short distance away (walking distance down the Kamehameha Highway) in a converted farm stand. One of them is a shrimp truck between Kahuku and Laie.

Skyscraper definition12/29/2023 ![]() Under these conditions, it becomes profitable to build up. In certain areas, particularly urban cores, land values are significantly higher than in surrounding areas. However, in the modern world, market forces of supply and demand play a determining factor in the high rise buildings that go up today. The same principle can be said to still hold true today. Throughout history, high rise structures have been built to demonstrate religious, political and economic power. Why Build High Rise Buildings and Skyscrapers? Eventually, HVAC systems would add the third key innovation that has allowed high-rise buildings to develop into the iconic structures we see today. ![]() They could have large openings which translated to large windows for light and ventilation. Non load bearing walls had a key advantage. This innovation is accredited to William Jenney who engineered the Home Insurance Building in Chicago using this system in the late nineteenth century. These walls are known as a curtain walls. The exterior walls would be non load bearing wall. In contrast to masonry walls that would support the loads of the building, a building would be built of a steel frame that would support the loads. The second breakthrough that led to the modern day high-rise was steel frame construction. This was provided by Elijah Otis, who invented a safety brake that would prevent the elevator from free falling in case there was a failure. The first breakthrough was an elevator that could transport people safely. The breakthroughs that led to the modern day high-rise came about in the nineteenth century. Their solution was to add buttresses that provided walls with additional support and spread the loads. Ancient castles and old European homes are an example of this type of structure.Ĭathedrals in Europe addressed these problems to create tall open structures with larger openings. This also meant openings in the wall could not be very large. Higher buildings required thicker walls to carry the increased weight. In more practical structures throughout history, masonry walls would carry the loads of the building including floors and roof. With a wide foundation, they eventually determined the slope that allowed them to build ever higher structures. Engineering steep vertical stable walls was their challenge. The largest and highest early structures were the pyramids. This lead to many challenges for engineers looking to build tall buildings. ![]() For centuries, large buildings were made of stone and masonry. The history of high rise buildings can be traced back to the pyramids of Egypt and the cathedrals of Europe. What Is The History Of High Rise Buildings? High-rise buildings may also be constructed of high strength concrete columns as opposed to steel. One example is the World Trade Center towers in New York which used exterior load bearing walls. There are exceptions to the structural definition of skyscrapers. HVAC systems are necessary to make the environment comfortable for people. The height of the buildings requires the use of elevators in order to make access to upper floors practical. Skyscrapers are high rise buildings that are engineered as steel frame structures with non load bearing exterior curtain walls. ![]() What Are The Key Structural Components of High-Rise Buildings? The minimum number of stories generally range from as few as six to ten. There is no set minimum number of stories. But it's still pretty cool to look back and compare New York's tallest building in 1913 to New York's tallest building in 2013.A high rise building is a multi-story building that rises above the average structure height in a given area. Seeing all the traffic walk by in the morning hours not ready for cookies till lunchtime, Ronald Shaich reached out to Louis Kane who was by then losing the bakery company to debt. He loved the experience and so after college, he began The Cookie Jar in Boston in 1980. He hated the mistreatment so much that he decided to open his own (nonprofit) convenience store financed by the student body. Most college students would have a funny story to tell their friends, Shaich chose a different option. Shaich, while attending Harvard, was kicked out of a convenience store with his friends after being accused of shoplifting. Let’s pause there one minute moving across town to another Harvard grad, Ronald Shaich (pronounced “shake”). He quickly found out that it was much more challenging to sell bread in retail space than to sell frozen yogurt. Two years later in 1978 Louis Kane, a Harvard graduate, and owner of a frozen yogurt franchise decided to purchase the bread company. The story begins in 1976 when Pavallier, a French manufacturer of baking equipment, decided to start selling their bread to showcase their ovens in Boston’s historic Faneuil Hall. Au Bon Pain (we’ll tackle the pronunciation later) began in France, now resides in Germany with one American businessman in the center.

Book of demons game wiki12/29/2023 ![]() Mance Rayder and his wife Dalla believe that the Wall prevents the Others from crossing into the Seven Kingdoms. When asked about the ability of Valyrian steel to kill an Other, Martin replied that "the Night's Watch would like to know as well". Ancient texts also record a weakness to "dragonsteel", which some think may be Valyrian steel. One is obsidian, otherwise called dragonglass or "frozen fire". The Others have a few known weaknesses that are recorded in ancient texts. Craster calls himself a godly man, and as such believes he does not have to fear any attacks from the Others or their wights. Craster's wives believe that Craster's sons become Others as well. According to his wives, Craster leaves his sons for the Others, whom he calls "the gods", come the "white cold", and, when he does not have any sons to give, gives them sheep. According to the stories of Old Nan, the free folk give the women they steal from the Seven Kingdoms to the Others, and they laid with the Others during the Long Night to birth half-human children. According to Patterson, " spoke a lot about what were not, but what they were was harder to put into words." The free folk believe the Others and their wights can smell life, or rather its warmth. ![]() ![]() Melisandre, a red priestess, believes that the Others are the "cold children" of the Great Other, allegedly an evil god of darkness, cold, and death who wages eternal war against R'hllor. Stannis Baratheon calls them "demons made of ice and snow and cold". Īccording to Old Nan, the Others hate "every creature with hot blood in its veins". The language the Others speak is unknown, but has been described as sounding like "the cracking of ice on a winter lake", and their laughter as being as sharp as icicles. They hide from the light of the sun and emerge at night although once again some stories claim that their coming brings the night. They might appear during snowstorms or mist, and melt away when the skies clear. ![]() White mist also rises when they are near. Extreme cold accompanies them, but it is unknown whether the Others only come when it is so cold, or whether they bring the cold with them. Their movements can be lightning quick and graceful. The Others go lightly on the snow and leave no prints to mark their passage. Some tales also speak of Others riding giant ice spiders. There are tales of Others riding the corpses of dead animals such as bears, direwolves, mammoths, and horses. Martin has refused to answer whether or not the Others control these resurrected people and animals in the same way a warg or skinchanger can control an animal. Only burning the bodies of the deceased can prevent the Others from resurrecting them. The Others are capable of resurrecting dead men or creatures as wights. The Others can do things with ice that we can't imagine and make substances of it." The blades the Others use seem to be rather cold They are able to cover a metal blade in frost, and shatter a steel blade. When asked what substance the swords of the Others are made from, Martin answered "Ice. When the blades brush the flames of a torch, a screech as sharp as a needle can be heard. When the sword touches a steel blade, only a high, thin sound, similar to an animal screaming in pain, can be heard instead of the sound of metal on metal. The swords are alive with moonlight and have a faint blue glow to them. The pale swords are extremely sharp, capable of moving through ringmail as if it is silk. The Others appear to be superior swordsmen, wielding thin crystal swords. According to comic book artist Tommy Patterson, Martin told him that "the reflective, camouflaging armor" is able to pick up "the images of the things around it like a clear, still pond." The Others wear delicate, reflective, camouflaging armor that shifts in color with every step. īlue-eyed Other gripping the pommel of a crystal sword, by Marc Simonetti © However, the Night's King's queen, presumably an Other due to her blue eyes and pale skin, is described as a "corpse queen" on account of her white, cold skin. Martin, the Others "are strange, beautiful… think, oh… the Sidhe made of ice, something like that… a different sort of life… inhuman, elegant, dangerous." Further, although Old Nan describes the Others as "dead things", Martin has stated that the Others are not dead. Others have pale blue blood and shiny bones like milkglass. They have cold blue eyes that have been described as burning like ice, or being as bright as blue stars. The Others are tall and gaunt, with flesh pale as milk. The researchers used descriptive-correlational research. This paper aimed to determine the challenges encountered by accounting students towards distance learning and their distance-learning interaction. Therefore, this study aimed to validate the Spanish version of the work group emotional intelligence profile short version (WEIP-S) in a sample of Spanish federated coaches. Although there are numerous tools to assess emotional intelligence, few of them have been validated explicitly in a sports sample, and even fewer have had coaches as a target population. However, the conceptual confusion around ADMSs limits information systems (IS) research in comprehensively studying them and their impacts within a clearly defined cumulative tradition. ADMSs are associated with significant opportunities and challenges in a wide range of high-impact application areas. The outcome of the study helps the policymakers to modify the current policy with respect to electric vehicle in the emerging nations.Īlgorithmic decision-making systems (ADMSs), consisting of the two distinct but related concepts of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics (BDA), represent the most current computing advances for decision-making. The study identified factors such as Financial Barriers, Vehicle Performance Barriers, Lack of charging infrastructure, Environmental Conservation, Societal Influence, Social Awareness of Electric Vehicles as influencers towards electric vehicle adoption. ![]() A robust statistical method, such as exploratory factor analysis is conducted using IBM SPSS 23 to identify the factors. A quantitative approach is adopted and the data is collected from 172 respondents from Bengaluru through an online survey method using snowball sampling method. The paper aims to identify the possible factors in consumers’ intention of Electric Vehicle adoption. The ever-growing environmental concerns caused due to fossil fuel depletion and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions has paved way for consumers to consider Electric Vehicles (EV) as a rapidly emerging operational alternative to vehicles that run on fossil fuels like petrol, diesel and CNG. |
